In this project we had to debate about nuclear energy and how we use our energy. I learned many things such as the difference between fusion and fission (they have big differences), how a power plant works and what are the pros and con to our energy sources. In our debates we each had a role for the debate one person reads the opening statement and an other comes up with questions and answers questions that we were asked, we did this twice but with different people. The five questions that we had to answer were: Nuclear energy is a better alternative to fossil fuels, Nuclear waste can be disposed of efficiently and safely, Nuclear energy is a better alternative to hydropower, solar, and wind energy, Nuclear energy is truly capable of powering our world indefinitely and Accidents that can happen at nuclear energy plants are acceptable risks.
A new thing I learned was how much our world relied on fossil fuels, we see a lot about how we should stop the use of fossil fuels but yet the majority of the world uses fossil fuels (Debate Question #1). What I'm most proud of is the effort I put in the CREWS questions, I worked on questions # 3,4,5 all day after school just to achieve the due date that they need to be turned in so seeing them finished made me feel proud on the effort I put in it. The most challenging about the project was the CREWS questions, the questions themselves were easy the hard part was trying to find evidence from sites in order to prove our point even better. Like I was saying before I really did wasted most of my after school time finishing some of the questions because it was hard to find websites that give you the information that you needed. If I were to do this project differently I would've choose different views to support, this is because I chose 2/3 times on my debates so I felt cocky and choose the harder side to defend, ironically those 2 times I lost. Another reason I would choose different choices is to see how the outcome would of been.
